Sport

At Forestville we encourage all our students to have an active and healthy lifestyle.  We provide many opportunities for students to participate in healthy activities through our varied and enjoyable sports program.

K - Year 2 Sports

Children from Kindergarten to Year 2 enjoy a  weekly skills-based program covering aspects of co-ordination, locomotion, balance, ball skills such as throwing, catching, dribbling and kicking. Our sports program is greatly supported by a loyal band of parent helpers.

Our annual K-2 Sports Day is a highlight of the year where students take part in a variety of events with the emphasis on taking part and having fun.  The teachers race and the parents race always provide a popular finale!

Year 3-6 Sports

All students in Year 3-6 take part in a weekly sports lesson.  In these lessons students are given the opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of sports.  Clinics run by specialist teachers are frequently brought in to develop skills in a particular sport.

Students in Year 4-6 also have the opportunity to try out for competitive teams in soccer, netball, teeball, softball and cricket.  The selected teams compete in the PSSA competition against other primary schools in the area.

Gymnastics

All students have weekly gymnastics lessons for two terms each year.  These lessons take place in the School Hall and are run by specialist teachers who provide all the necessary equipment and expertise.

Swimming

For students in Year 1-2, weekly swimming lessons are available in Term 4.  During these lessons children are grouped into small classes of similar ability to cater for all students from non-swimmers through to competent swimmers.

For strong swimmers, before school squad swimming is available in Term 1 and Term 4.

Our annual School Swimming Carnival is held in February each year.  All competent swimmers in Year 3-6 are encouraged to participate and those students in Year 2 who will be turning 8 before the end of the year are also able to take part.  Representatives for the forthcoming Zone Swimming Carnival are selected from the results of the School Swimming Carnvial.

Athletics

An annual School Athletics Carnival is held at Narrabeen Academy of Sports.  All students in Year 3 - 6 are encouraged to participate and those students in Year 2 who will be turning 8 before the end of the year are also able to take part.  Representatives for the forthcoming Zone Athletics Carnival are selected from the results of the School Athletics Carnival.
