School Curriculum
The Board of Studies provides all school curricula from Kindergarten to Year 12. There are six Key Learning Areas for primary schools. These are:
English
Talking and listening, Reading and Writing (including handwriting, spelling and grammar)
Mathematics
Number, Space and Geometry, Data, Measurement, Patterns and Algebra, Working Mathematically
Science and Technology
Students learn about both natural and man-made environments.
Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE)
This area deals with peoples' interactions with one another and with their social, cultural and physical environments.
Creative Arts
Students explore and experience different art forms including Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts.
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PD/H/PE)
K-6 students learn to understand, value and lead healthy, active and fulfilling lifestyles. This includes Student Welfare and anti-bullying programs, Gender Equity and Child Protection.
Combined Outcome Groups (COGS)
At Forestville we use integrated units of work called COGS units which cover all the outcomes from the Key Learning Areas of HSIE, Science and Technology, Creative Arts and PD/H/PE.
