At Forestville Public School there is an active, enthusiastic and effective Parent and Citizen Association (P&C). The P&C works hard to create a social community for parents, while also fundraising and completing initiatives to provide resources to enhance and improve our children’s learning environment.
Every parent is welcome to come along to any, or all, of our P&C meetings, which are held one evening a month throughout the school year. P&C meetings are friendly and informal. There are some elected positions (President, Secretary etc.) which are elected during the last term of the school year. Every attendee (elected or not, regular attendee or not) is able to vote and contribute to initiatives, fund raising and decisions about how our funds are spent. The meetings are a great place to meet other parents who you may see every day, but have not had a chance to speak with. The meetings provide a valuable channel of communication between parents and school. Through the P&C parents may be involved in school policy decisions, such as allocation of funds, school discipline, school uniform etc.
An important purpose of the P&C is to raise additional funds to assist the school in purchasing additional resources that the government budget does not cover. Many features of our school that may have impressed you when deciding whether to send your child to Forestville are in existence as a result of the contributions made by past P&C Associations. Recent examples include playground equipment; commemorative pathway, plants in the school grounds; interactive whiteboards, cubbies; tree seats; the portable stage; our collection of talking books; our ever expanding library; the fabulous reader collection; maths resources; many of the band instruments; sporting equipment; computer education; art equipment and supplies; and general maintenance of the school grounds. e.g. tree pruning
